Jack Wiler performing Steven McCasland's adaptation for stage of Jack's book, "Fun Being Me"

Jack let word out that he was going to be performing a one man play in August in NYC. Through a fortunate turn of events I was able to attend and even record the audio of his play. Below I am quoting the notice about the play that Jack put on his blog about the play.

If you would like to hear the play you can click on the link at the bottom of this post. Depending on your connection speed it may be more convenient to "right click" on the link and choose to save the file to your computer locally and play it back from your hard drive. The recording is in MP3 format and most computers can play it. The group that I work with had just decided to try doing some podcasts. We had just spent $400 on a portable digital recorder. I was able to grab the neat little thing and make the recording with Jack's permission. Enjoy!

FUN BEING ME
by Jack Wiler, adapted for the stage by Steven McCasland

Jack works as an exterminator for ACME exterminating. But he goes home to write poetry in Jersey City in an old armchair and a window looking out over Palisades Avenue. On top of it all, Jack has AIDS. Through illness, he rediscovers himself and reclaims his life. Jack's beautiful book of poetry sings and made a perfect adaptation for the stage. The one-man play was workshopped in April and starred Jack Wiler in the autobiographical piece. For four nights only, Group Therapy revisits the revamped text, with new poetry by Jack. Each night, a different actor will step on stage and fill Jack's shoes. Gender and race do not matter in his tale. Join us for an exciting and emotional journey.

Jack Wiler performing Fun Being Me. A few notes about the recording. You can hear some chit chat before the performance. During the performance there was an intermission. The sound of sirens can be heard again as Jack resumes after the intermission. After the performance Jack accepted comments and questions.

There was a flyer produced to promote the play, as you can see below.
